Lady Captains Day

Lady Captains Day

With, kangaroos, boomerangs, didgeridoos, and lots of g'day mates, the Sheila’s of Five Lakes celebrated Julie Dent’s Lady Captain’s Day. The day started in the sunshine with Julie arriving for the ladies guard of honour in a beautifully decorated Australian theme buggy completed with snakes, parrots, various marsupials, and of course Dame Edna’s famous gladioli. The best dressed Aussie was won by Jan Phillis who clearly had just come in from the outback.

With something for every class of golfer during the round, the overall winner was Susan Butterworth with a splendid 38-points followed by Vice-Captain Tina Hickey with 34 points and Sarah Levine on 33 points. Sarah Mann claimed three special prizes plus a creditable four-place overall.

A highlight of the day was the appearance of Samantha, a ‘lady pro’, aka Ron Dent, who took on the ladies on par 3 8th. There were some questions as to Samantha’s skill level as she only made the green twice throughout the day complaining about her hair and other things getting in the way!

The day was concluded by a splendid Afternoon Tea and prize giving.

Lady Captain Julie wishes to thank all the ladies and Five Lakes staff who supported her on her special day.
