'Charlie Powell wins The Carter Cup'
The Men's section of Five Lakes Golf Club played for the Carter Cup sponsored by Five Lakes club professional Gary Carter.
Played from the white tees on the Lakes course this annual stroke play competition offered a stern test to all who played.
Two players returned nett 72's to dispute 3rd place, John McAleavey (16) and Douglas Butcher (16) with McAleavey claiming 3rd with a better back 6 holes, second place went to the longtime clubhouse leader James Adams (12) with a nett 71, however winner of the Carter Cup was Charlie Powell (5) with nett 69 with 3 birdies, 10 pars and only 5 bogies, Charlie also won the Scratch prize (lowest Gross) with a 74.
Three players won balls with two's on the par 3's, Billy Millar and Charlie Powell on the 4th and David Rogers on the long 16th.
